Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)

Our MTP or Long-range Transportation Plan serves as the guiding, strategic planning document for the MPO. It outlines our area's transportation goals and objectives for the next 20-25 years, assessing current and future demand on the transportation system based on factors such as population change, future employment, and land use patterns. Another required product of MPOs, and much like our TIP, we develop the MTP through a collaborative planning process involving county and local municipalities, state and local transportation agencies, and other stakeholders (including the public). Importantly, the MTP must be financially constrained and rely on reasonable assumptions of future available funding (i.e., not a project wish list). We update the MTP every five years.
